Welcome to my new crochet blog, StephieGCrafts. This is my first blog post to introduce myself and the future plans of this blog.

Hi. My name is Stephanie. I am a 38-year-old wife and mama that has an obsession with yarn and crochet. I have enjoyed crafting ever since I was a kid especially working on different craft kits like latch hook, cross stitch, loom and beading. My best friend, Heather, introduced me to the world of crochet in 2016 and thus began my new life’s passion.

How it started:

My crochet journey began back in 2016 with a telephone conversation lost in translation between me and my newfound-friend, Heather. We were introduced through our husbands, who worked together. During this telephone conversation, Heather starts talking about, what I thought was, carrot cake. I respond with, “Ew. Carrot cake taste gross!” Confused by my response and the possible thought of me eating yarn, Heather responds with “I am talking about Caron Cake yarn, not carrot cake!” We then finally settled that confusion and Heather goes on to tell me she crochets. I started to ask her questions about crocheting. As our conversation went on I become more interested and wanted to learn everything I could about this craft. Heather ended up putting a crochet kit together for me that included some yarn and crochet hooks to get me started. I was so excited to receive this crochet starter kit. From that moment, I was ready to embark on a new journey into the world of crochet.

Why I decided to start this blog:

I learned to crochet by joining crochet groups (online and in person) and watching crochet tutorials on Youtube. Now, to think how much easier it is today to learn just about anything by having the internet at our fingertips just amazes me. I invested a lot of time learning this craft and I want to pass what I have learned to others. Crochet is great as a therapeutic activity and allows me to show off my creative mind, which I would love to help people be able to achieve on their own!

Future plans for this blog:

I plan to add crochet tutorials, tips and patterns to my blog.

A few things I have crocheted:

My first blanket. Two weeks into learning how to crochet I challenged myself into making a blanket. This blanket was made by using the single crochet Chevron pattern. (2016)
Crocheted using Lion Brand’s Baby Soft Boucle yarn and Feels like Butta yarn. Pattern found on Lion Brand’s website. (2018)
I crocheted this teddy bear for my dad when he was sick in the hospital. Made by crocheting with two strands of Lion Brand’s Baby Soft Boucle yarn. Pattern by amigurumiday. (2023)
Lately, I have been enjoying adding gems to my crochet. Here is a dragonfly shawl I crocheted with added gems. Gems applied by using Gem-Tac. Crocheted using Lion Brand’s Shawl in a Ball yarn. Pattern by PerfectPosiesbyPaige w/mods. (2023)
Of course I had to upsize this Little Debbie Christmas tree. Crocheted using Bernat Blanket yarn. Pattern by 3amgracedesigns. (2023)

I am excited to start my next journey in crochet by starting my new blog and sharing this craft with you! Thanks for being here 🙂
