These Octo Plush Minis are just too adorable! This crochet pattern is no-sew and works up quickly, making these octos a great choice for market prepping. These octos can remain as is or made into key chains. This pattern uses US crochet terms.
Materials:
- Bulky 5 yarn (Hobby Lobby’s Baby Bee: Adore-A-Ball)
- 4.00mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Polyfil
- Safety eyes (optional)~ 10mm kawaii style safety eyes
Material notes:
Yarn/hook: Any size yarn can be used. Just adjust the hook size accordingly. If stitches are too loose, just go down a hook size. Smaller hook size will make stitches tighter and eliminate the gaps between stitches. Just note that if yarn size is changed, then it will affect the size of the finished product.
Safety eyes: Safety eyes are optional. Keep in mind they can pose as a choking hazard for younger children. Alternative options include embroidered eyes, or glued-on felt eyes.
Stitches/Abbreviations:
- ST(S): stitch(es)
- CH: chain
- SS: slipstitch
- SC: single crochet
- BO: bobble stitch
- DEC: decrease
- INC: increase
- FLO: front loop only
- BLO: back loop only
Special Stitch:
BOBBLE: Yarn over. Insert hook into a stitch. Pull up a loop. Yarn over. Pull through only the first two loops on the hook. (Yarn over. Insert hook into the same stitch. Pull up a loop. Yarn over. Pull through only the first two loops on the hook.)* repeat the steps in parentheses two more times until five loops remain on the hook. Yarn over. Pull through all five loops on the hook.
Notes:
This pattern is worked in-the-round in a continuous spiral without joining. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round; this helps to keep a track of when a new round begins. Anything written in parentheses followed by an asterisks ()* is to be repeated. The number noted before ‘sts’ in parentheses at the end of each round note represents the total number of stitches for that round. ex: (8sts), notes eight stitches total for the round.

Directions
Body
Round 1: CH2. 8SC into the second ch from the hook. (8sts)
Round 2: (INC)*. (16sts)
Rounds 3-5: (SC)*. (16sts)
Round 6: (DECBLO). (8sts)
** Also mark the first front loop of round five with a stitch marker (this is the loop that was pushed forward when working the first decblo of round six). This will help to locate the first loop when starting on the bobble round.

Fasten off leaving a long tail to close opening. Do NOT close yet.
Tentacles

Attach yarn to the first flo of round five leaving a tail long enough to tie and weave in. This yarn tail will be knotted to the ending yarn tail at the end of the round.
**Bobble round is worked into the front loops only of round five (these are the loops that were pushed forward from working in the back loop only on round six).
Round 1: (BO into the next st. SS into the next st.)* The last ss of the round will be worked into the beginning front loop where the yarn was initially attached. (16sts: 8bobbles and 8slipstiches)
Fasten off. Knot the bobble round beginning yarn tail and ending yarn tail together.
Add safety eyes between rounds three and four with two stitches in between. Stuff with polyfil. Close opening working around weaving the yarn end in and out through the front loops only. Pull yarn end gently to close opening. Weave in ends.
